The American Civil War is perhaps the most important war in US history. It would shape the country forever and after it nothing would ever be the same. If the war ended any differently life as we know it could be competently different. That is why the war is so important because of its legacy.
The first battle is The Battle of Bull Run. This is the first battle of the Civil war and shows just how strong the confederate army is and that they are not to be taken lightly. They come out and shock the north in a deceive victory while both did take casualties but the much more prepared south forced The Union to retreat.
The next battle I have is The Battle of Antietam. This battle is important for lots of reasons. One it was the bloodiest day in US history losing a combined 22,717 men in just one day. Two the North where able to get a win which didnt happen very much at this point in the war. Lastly this battle led to The Emancipation Proclamation which made any slave that was able to run away a now free slave. This allowed thousands of newly freed slaves to run away from the South which dropped the production of just about everything to go down hill.
The last battle is The battle of Gettysburg. This marked somewhat of a turning point in the war and if this battle played out a little differently the entire war would’ve been different. If the South would’ve won they would’ve had free access to the Norths cities and the war would’ve most likely ended. But that is not how it went because the North defended the territory and it marked a huge lost for the South and from this point on the North was able to go on attack for the rest of the war.

The timeline above shows the battles and the dates they took place.
